Hiking Heaven to Havuts Tar

We will start our breathtaking hiking tour from Garni temple. It is one of the most famous historical and architectural monuments among tourists, located in Kotayk province. It is the only structure preserved in Armenia from the pagan period, dedicated to the god Mihr. Before reaching the temple, we will have a stop on the way to Charents Arch, from where a wonderful view of Mount Ararat opens.

The next point of the tour is the famous “Symphony of Stones”, located not far from the Garni pagan temple, in the gorge of the Azat River, which is included in the list of natural monuments of Armenia. The Symphony of Stones, also known as the Basalt Organ, amazes with its magnificent, seemingly artificial rocks.

After this natural monument of indescribable beauty we will cross an 11th century bridge and enter the Khosrov State Reserve to continue our hike to the masterpiece of Havuts Tar. It was once one of the biggest and most important monasteries in medieval Armenia. During our hike we will enjoy breathtaking views of Azat River Gorge. Afterwards we will return to Garni and drive to Yerevan.

For this hikig tour it is required to have non-slip sports shoes, comfortable clothing, sun and rain protection items (glasses, hat, cream, raincoat), as well as food and water for one day.
